Emma’s Childminding Services

My name is Emma and I have been an Ofsted registered childminder since 2010. I live in Braintree with my husband. My house is within walking distance of the town centre, and the public gardens are just up the road. We have a good-sized garden with a play house.
As well as raising my own three children, I have worked in a busy children’s daycare nursery and really loved working with children whose ages ranged from six months to eleven years old.
I understand that play is something a child enjoys best. A child’s play has a purpose and can be a step towards learning and understanding valuable skills. It helps a child fit into the world physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially, and grow into a healthy and competent individual.
I will endeavour to provide the children with a stimulating environment, where playing and learning go hand in hand. A varied selection of activities will be provided throughout the day, using both indoor and outdoor space.
Consideration will always be taken to ensure that provision is made for children with additional needs and abilities.
Play & Activities
Messy Play
A large variety of different mediums, such as cornflour, jelly, spaghetti and dough, will be made available. These provide both tactile and imaginative experiences and encourage expressive language.
Sand and Water
Made available on a regular basis, sand and water play provides opportunities to experience scientific and mathematical concepts, as well as encouraging social and language development.
Creative Activities
Activities such as painting, sticking and chalking are made available regularly.
Imaginative Play
I recognise the importance of imaginative play to children and aim to provide rich opportunities to widen their imagination. This includes dolls and accessories, road maps and cars, trains, dressing-up clothes and a home corner, along with a selection of construction toys that encourage hand/eye co-ordination, counting and sorting.
Physical Play
Slides, tricycles, balls, hoops and more are provided to keep active bodies happy and healthy.
Books
A variety of books are available for the children to look at and read, both under supervision and alone.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything over the past few years. Can't believe where the time has gone, he was only 14 months old when he first started and now he's off to pre school! Emma has looked after my youngest daughter since September 2020 and we have been delighted with Emma's childminding service and the care which our daughter receives. Emma is a friendly, warm and nurturing person and my daughter adores her and absolutely loves going to her house - it is a home from home. Emma ensures that there are a variety of different activities each day, trips to the park and socialising with other children. Our daughter regularly comes home with crafts she has made and the photos on the app not only track her progression and development but also show what a wonderful time she is having. Highly recommend.
